The Be Love Community Counseling Icon
The Be Love Community Counseling icon depicts the Sankofa bird standing tall and confident amidst a Banyan tree and is an original drawing by artist Richard Cramer. Sankofa is an Adinkra symbol of the Akan people and is an important symbol for all as it represents the power in remembering the past to move forward. This remembering and moving forward with clarity, purpose, and passion is like the healing process that occurs through therapy. Returning to the past may include paying attention and healing from historic traumas that have been transmitted through generations or giving attention to other hurts from previous experiences that impact one's present experience. Returning to the past may also involve identifying that which is healthy and helpful to support the present and future.
The Banyan Tree is an important symbol of ancestral spirits in the Chamorro culture and is thought to be a sacred tree for many people of the world. It may grow large with exposed areal roots and a wide canopy providing a great shelter and resting place for many. Be Love Community Counseling is a space for diverse people of all ages to rejuvenate and return to optimal health.

Why Be Love
Love is a universal human experience despite social divisions of race, gender, religion, sexuality, nationality, ancestry age, physical, mental, or economic diversity. Love is at the core of who we are as people. Sometimes on life’s journey, there is harm done and we forget who we are and how to truly love ourselves and other beings. We are deserving of love. When we are loving and kind to others, without compromising being loving and kind to ourselves, we reconnect with our internal power. While your personal goals and hopes are the primary focus of our sessions, increasing the capacity to love and be loved will be apart of our work together. The return to Be Love and knowing who we are is the journey toward liberation.
James Baldwin once said, "love takes off the masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within. I use the word 'love' here not merely in the personal sense but as a state of being, or a state of grace - not in the infantile American sense of being made happy but in the tough and universal sense of quest and daring and growth."
